Tokyo Untitled

Tokyo Untitled was born from attraction of Renato D'Agostin for the Japanese photograph, after two trips to Japan, where remains hopelessly fascinated by culture and history of this nation. Tokyo Untitled evokes the atmosphere of a Tokyo which belongs to past. " I find it hard to believe that the photos of Renato D'Agostin, have been taken recently ... but what it is portrayed by Renato,is a Tokyo, today. " said Eikoh Hosoe, the master Japanese, who has appreciated and recognized the value of the study done by D'Agostin, exceptionally writing the afterword to the book that will be presented in Milan, after New York, Paris and Tokyo, on the occasion of exhibition at FORMA gallery,in Milano. Renato D'Agostin doesn't show the reality in his photos. In these photographs, There are the feelings of lightheadedness and isolation created by the times and the lifestyles of this hidden and complex culture which is the Japan. The eye of the photographer is now far from a descriptive reading of reality, anyway, without leaving the old film and the darkroom, and above all, jealously preserving the teachings of another master of photography who has followed its growth, Ralph Gibson. Tokyo is a black and white where man and everyday life are seen through the views created by the architecture, where is the geometry of space that give the pace of the photographs. D'Agostin eliminates the recognizable elements of the city, leading the viewer on a ' surreal atmosphere, away from the stereotypes. "Tokyo Untitled is the recording of my trip to the eastern capital, where the invisible, becomes visible in daily." The exhibition is in collaboration with mc2gallery Contemporary Art in Milan.
