"I've seen things you people would not believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. It's time, to die. " (Roy Batty, cyborg from" Blade Runner "1982) If photograph means "writing with light", then Kusterle Roberto is a writer. His photographs also have a strong affinity with science fiction literature, particularly literature of Philip Kindred Dick (1928 - 1982). It's from his science fiction novel "Do Androids Dream of The Deer Hunter," 1968 (in the original "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?") That have been drawn the famous film Blade Runner, by Ridley Scott 1982, with the issues dear to the American writer : What is real and what is not, what is human and what is not. Kusterle Roberto, from Gorizia class 1948, creates imaginary worlds, timeless. The result is a sense of mystery and ambiguity that evoke thoughts of all kinds.Roberto Kusterle, Gorizia class 1948, creating imaginary worlds, timeless. The result is a sense of mystery and ambiguity that evoke thoughts of all kinds. Even more unsettling and hard to believe (as in Dick: what is real and what is not?) not only his characters but everything is real, a " mise en scène "of a parallel world" done ad hoc, by hand, by the artist. Everything we see in his spectacular set is true, but it seems, without intervention or manipulation to the computer, as in opera "The ego support" in which a man tries to sustain the huge head (real sculpture), positionated in a real dry bed of a river, "simulacrum" (another term dear to Dick) which recalls the man who pushes the statue of the idol (himself?) . His work becomes more than only photography, it's sculpture, theater, performance, video.
